Account Manager Jobs
Account Manager
In an Account Management role, you are tasked with maintaining and managing accounts in order to increase the account spend. In some instances, you may manage a few or even a single account of high value. Whilst it is sometimes assumed that account management is easier than generating new business, this is not always the case. Losing a large account where you have built what you thought were strong business relationships can be damaging to the business and place your role in jeopardy. Salaries range from £25K to £70K, although typically are in the £30K - £40K bracket.
Channel Sales/Distributor Sales
Selling products through a distribution or wholesale chain, the Channel Account Manager role involves introducing new products, product training, encouraging distributors staff to sell your product over competitors by building trust and accountability, setting incentives and excellent customer service to ensure you are the distributor's logical supplier of choice. In some industries - construction and IT, for example, the relationships can be complex. Relationship-based is largely an account management role unless it is a Channel Development role where you will be expected to set up the channel from scratch. Basic salaries generally range from £30K to £50K with additional performance-related commission.
